"Craft" today are the utilitarian objects of yesterday in Venda, when steel pots and plastic bowls did not exist
 Objects were hand made from wood, such as:
Wooden bowls of various shapes and sizes
Walking sticks
Gsuri (stamping block and stick)
Spoons
Ngoma / Marimba drums and Mbila (Xylophone)
Pottery
Beadwork and Dolls
Mafuba - African Games
Trees used include kiaat, mudzili, red sarynga, black ivory and mahogany.
 
 
Enos Phalandwa, Peter Mudau, Joseph Makundi, Sioto Shonisani and Awli Mudau are a small group of crafters working and selling from under a tree at Tshandama, near Thengwe
Some of them have been carving since 1971, for others it has been an occupation for the past two years
